F.M. Black and 7th Grade Professional Learning Community Expectations
Panther Parents, Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year at Black Middle School. This will be a very successful year if we establish an ongoing relationship with each other to support the growth of your student. We invite you to contact us constantly to hold us as well as your student accountable for success. There are some amazing things happening at F.M. Black, and we are excited to serve in any manner possible so that you feel connected with us, a Panther Family.
In addition to the values of the school, seventh grade will have specific expectations and values that will be nurtured into a rich content.

• Value (Students must know the VALUE of what they are learning)
• Every Day (Students must stay consistent and try EVERY DAY)
• Never Give Up (Students should NEVER GIVE UP on their goals)
• Teach (Students must give back by TEACHING others)
• Honor (Students must HONOR what and who is doing good)

These values will stay with the students for a lifetime if our partnership is rooted in them.
Grading Policy
The grading policy will be split into to four percentage areas:
Tests:     30%
Quizzes: 25%
Class Work: 35%
Homework: 10%
A progress report will be sent home in the middle of each six-week grading period with a final report card every six-weeks.
Starting in September, you will be able to follow your students’ grades and attendance on GradeSpeed. Please come to Open House on September 8th to learn about how to access your student’s information online!       
Late Work/Make-up Work
If a student is not present in the classroom due to illness or any other reason, the student will have the opportunity to make up the work. The work will be due the number of days the student is absent. The student is responsible for picking up the work. If the student does not turn an assignment when it is due, he or she will have the opportunity to turn it in the next day with a 10% deduction. For every day the assignment is late, it will be a 10% deduction until a “0” is received.
Dress Code

• 7th Grade students must wear an appropriate length and appropriate color polo (WHITE) or BMS T-shirt.
• Khaki pants or appropriate length shorts must be worn around the waist with the hems uncuffed.
• Undershirts must be either white, gray, or black.
• Only solid white sweatshirts or BMS sweatshirts may be worn in the classroom. All other outerwear must be kept in the lockers.

Class Rules

• Respect others, the school, and yourself at all times by continuously following the HISD Student Code of Conduct.
• HISD policy requires cell phones, MP3s, and videogames to be left in lockers at all times. If seen or heard, they will be turned into the main office.

• After school detention on Tuesday (for Wednesday through Friday offense) or Thursday (for Monday or Tuesday offense)
• Referral for any level 3 or 4 offenses (see student handbook)
• Student conference with all teachers
• Student conference with all teachers, principal , and parent

Padres Panther. Bienvenidos al año escolar del 2009-2010 de la escuela de Black. Este será un año con éxito. Vamos a establecer una relación juntos para ayudar al estudiante. Nosotros los invitamos que nos contacten constantemente. Hay cosas importantes en la escuela de Black. Por favor, vengan y vean que su hijo(a) esté en la clase. 
Además de los valores de la escuela, el grado siete tendrá expectaciones específicos con material rico.

• Buscar (Estudiantes tienen que buscar los sueños)
• Engranar (Estudiante tienen que engranar en lesiones)
• Valorar (Estudiante tienen que valorar que están aprendiendo)
• Todos los Días (Estudiante tienen que tratar todos los días)
• Nunca Dejarlo (Estudiante no tienen que dejarlo.)
• Enseñar (Estudiante tiene que enseñar a otros lo que aprenden)
• Honorar (Estudiante tiene que honorar todo positivo en su vida)

Est0 se queda toda una vida si nuestra relación esta fuerte.
Póliza de Grados
Tenemos cuatro categorías de grados y diferentes porcentajes
Exámenes:                                              30%

Trabajo en la Clase:                             35%
Tarea:                                                    10%
Reportes de progreso serán mandados a la casa cada tres semanas. Al fin de seis semanas, mandaremos la tarjeta de grados. Si tiene una pregunta sobre el progreso de su estudiante, por favor comuníquese con la escuela inmediatamente.
Empezando en Septiembre, usted podrá mantener acceso a los grados y atendencia de su estudiante por medio de la computadora con el programa “GradeSpeed.” Mandaremos más información sobre “GradeSpeed” en las siguientes semanas.       
Trabajo tarde/Trabajo cuando el estudiante no estuvo en la escuela.
Si el estudiante no está en la clase porque estuvo enfermo, el estudiante tendrá una oportunidad para hacer el trabajo. Es necesario que el trabajo esté completo y que esté entregado al profesor cuando regrese a la escuela.  Si el estudiante estuvo enfermo por 3 días, el estudiante tiene 3 días para entregar el trabajo. Es la responsabilidad del estudiante para recibir su trabajo. Si el estudiante no entrega el trabajo cuando está debido, haré una deducción de 10% cada día hasta que el maestro lo reciba.

Código de vestido

• Estudiantes tienen que llevar longitud apropiada y color apropiado polo (blanco) o camiseta de BMS.
• Pantalones kaki o longitud apropiado pantalones cortos tiene que llevar a la cintura con los dobladillos normales
• Camiseta abajo la camisa tiente que ser blanco, gris, o negro
• Solamente sudadera sólida blanca o sudadera de BMS se puede llevar en la clase. Todo otros tiene que poner en el casillero.

Reglas de las clase

• Respeto para todos y para la escuela a todas horas.  Tienen que seguir el código de conducta de HISD continuamente.
• La poliza de HISD requiere que teléfonos celulares, MP3 y juegos de video sean guardados en el casillero a todas horas. Si se ven o son oídos serán confiscados.

• Comunicación con parientes o guardián
• Detención los Martes (Por ocurrencia entre Miércoles a viernes) o detención los Jueves (por ocurrencia entre Lunes a Martes)
• Conferencia de estudiante con todos los maestros
• Conferencia de estudiante con todos los maestros, director(a), y padres/guardianes

Suministros
Estudiante tendrá una lista específica de los materiales de sus maestros en la primera semana.
El estudiante necesita una cerradura con combinación para su casillero. Si el estudiante no puedo recibir los suministros, por favor mande una nota escritita al maestro.
