Luby's STAR Student of the Week
The Luby's ACT (Achieving Character Together) progream offers HISD middle school students an opportunity to be recognized each week for demonstrating ourtstanding character. Teachers and faculty nominate students who have demonstrated the following characteristics:
Respect, Commitment, Loyalty, Self-Respect, Punctuality, and Self-Reliance.
A drawing is held each week to select the winning student for that week and each six weeks a student nomination is selected by district representatives to receive an IPod, $25 Luby's gift certificate, and a backpack.

Junior Achievement BOWL-A-THON 2010
HISD is participating again this year to help raise funds for Junior Achivement (JA).
F.M. Black is proud to be a part of this event on February 27th.
The BMS team is Panthers Strike. The team members are: Ms. Baptiste, Mr. Day, Ms. Leas, Ms. Sheils and Ms. Ruiz as the team captain.
