The game started with a wonderfully cool, fall evening perfect for football.  We had a great cheering section.  Unfortunately, Black started in the red after fumbling right at the start of the game.  Henry MS eventually scored and led Black by 6 points after missing the field goal.
In the second quarter after more turnovers, Robert Cavazos finally ran the ball into the end zone tying the game at six all.
In the third quarter, Black showed their skills again making another touchdown after more turnovers by both teams.  Black leads 12 to 6 at the end of the quarter.
In the fourth, a Henry player was injured during a tackle.  He stayed down for a while but was able to walk off the field as fans applauded.  In the final 20 seconds of the game, Henry had another turnover and Black recovered the ball.  The game ended with Black victorious 12 to 6.

BMS 7th Grade Football Season Opener
Black Middle School vs. Fonville Middle School
by Clayton Holland, 8th Grade Sports Reporter

The 7th grade BMS team went head to head against Fonville Middle School on September 18, 2007.
Fonville came out strong with some running plays. BMS just couldn't contain Fonville. The BMS defense finally stopped Fonville on the first drive.
Richard, BMS quarterback, did a classy hand-off to Pasmin, running back, on the first offensive drive. Pasmin then lost control and Fonville recovered the ball. After the recovery, Fonville drove the ball all the way into the end zone. Two penalty flags were called that put Fonville's offense on the one yard line. The Fonville quaterback rushed into the end zone for a touchdown. Fonville made another touch down after BMS lost the ball on the fourth down in the second drive.
The score was 12-0 with Fonville leading.
BMS drove the ball back upfield with hopes of a touchdown but to no avail. Black lost hard with the final score of 12-0.
Coach Adams made a statement after the game, "We need to learn to tackle. There's no defense if you can't hit."
